STOP KILLING OUR BLACK CHILDREN

Happy Friday! This week’s article is a bit longer okay, thank you for reading. You are appreciated. I need about 3 of your minutes.

If Nolan Wells was a 18-year-old white boy, would this be different? If you haven't heard about this, I don't know where the fck you been. Here’s the rundown.

NOT JUST ANOTHER HEADLINE

Nolan Wells: Remember His Name

On July 4, 18-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells, a recent high school graduate and college football player, traveled with friends to Horn Island off the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He never returned home. Two days later, search crews found his body. Authorities say the investigation remains active, and Nolan's cause and manner of death have not been conclusively determined. FckThat. There are so many unanswered questions, and we here for it.

INDEPENDENT AUTOPSY

Nolan Wells' cause and manner of death are undetermined, independent autopsy finds, but we know the truth

Independent autopsy results commissioned by Nolan Wells' family found the cause and manner of the 18-year-old's death were undetermined, pending further investigation. Wells died during a July Fourth boating trip with friends. The scarring discovered on the back of Nolan’s head could be consistent with hanging.

There are two separate examinations in this case:

  1. Independent autopsy (commissioned by the Wells family):

    • Dr. Roger J. Mitchell, M.D. performed the independent autopsy. Dr. Mitchell is a forensic pathologist and former Chief Medical Examiner for Washington, D.C. (findings above)

    • Mitchell noted that parts of Wells' throat were missing from the body by the time he received it for review, and said he "cannot rule out injury to the neck as a contributor or a cause of death."

    • He found "red discoloration" in the soft tissue at the back of Wells' head, with no underlying skull fractures or lacerations to the skin in that area.

  2. Official Mississippi autopsy:

    • The official autopsy was conducted through the Mississippi State Medical Examiner's Office.

    • Dr. Stacey Turner, M.D. performed the initial autopsy. Removed lungs and throat before transporting body.

    • She determined cause and manner of death were "undetermined pending investigation." She later transported his body with no neck and face down.

WHAT THE FCK?

Questions that make sense to ask:

  • Why were Nolan's phone and keys not with him? His family says his phone and car keys were recovered from friends after he was reported missing. They question why he would voluntarily stay behind on a remote island without those items. Friends have said it was common to leave phones on the boat, but the family disputes that explanation. • Did Nolan choose to stay behind, or not? Friends have said he stayed on the island after meeting a young woman. Nolan's parents say that would have been completely out of character, and another witness has reportedly challenged parts of that account.

SWEAR TO TELL THE TRUTH

  • Why are there conflicting accounts of his final hours? Public statements from friends, witnesses, and the family don't fully align, leaving gaps in the timeline investigators are still trying to resolve.

  • What happened to the data on his phone? Nolan's family has said they found deleted messages and little social media activity from that day, raising concerns. Investigators and the family's attorneys have agreed to jointly inspect the phone.

CAUSE OF DEATH

  • Why couldn't the independent autopsy determine a cause of death? The family's pathologist said decomposition and missing organs retained for examination limited the conclusions. The official autopsy and toxicology results are still pending.

  • Why has so little evidence from the party surfaced? The gathering reportedly included hundreds of people, yet relatively little publicly available video or photographic evidence from Nolan's final hours has emerged. Friends say many people left phones on boats or were in the water.

EQUAL JUSTICE

As the investigation continues, Nolan's family has raised concerns about transparency, conflicting accounts, and whether every possible lead is being pursued. Fck That.

FCK THAT SAYS

We need compassion. Is this why they love this country? Racism? Disgusting.

One question continues to haunt this case. If three Black teenagers had returned from that trip without their white friend, what the fck would be happening, would the investigation have unfolded the same way? Would public scrutiny have been as patient? Would the media coverage have looked different?

Those questions reflect concerns many people have about whether race can influence how cases are perceived and investigated. Throughout history evilness pops out in a certain group of people which brings to mind one question: Is there is a little bit of racism in all white people?
